The end of the year is weird. I had mostly cookies for lunch. I keep having to check to see what day it is, which means I’m never quite sure what I need to do on any given day. BUT I do love to reminisce a bit, and for the blog that means checking out the Top 10 Recipes of 2019!
*Drum roll, please…*
I’m pretty darn excited that these Honey Sugar Cookies made the top 10 list for the year, since the recipe has only been up on the blog since September! The reason is clear: these cuties are simple, delicious, and easy to personalize to any event or holiday.
In ninth place: Homemade Kahlua! This Kahlua is so flavorful, so delicious–much better than anything you can buy in a store! If you’re not making cocktails with it, might I suggest my Kahlua Brownie Pie?
This Vanilla Cake with Berry Buttercream is the best vanilla cake EVER! It’s soft, moist (sorry not sorry), and has wonderful flavor! Added bonus: the buttercream is flavorful year-round because it uses freeze-dried berries! I used strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries, but you can use any berries you like! <3
These gems are Dulce de Leche Cream Puffs! Classic cream puffs filled with dulce de leche cream, dipped in dark chocolate ganache, and drizzled with *more* dulce de leche! It’s no wonder this was a popular recipe in 2019!
This Cinnamon Roll Apple Pie is a classic apple pie topped with thinly sliced cinnamon rolls and drizzled with a cream cheese glaze. This recipe is roll-your-eyes-good!
The #5 post on Live to Sweet in 2019 wasn’t one recipe, but a collection of recipes! My post on Ways to Use Egg Yolks has a treasure trove of recipes to use up those extra egg yolks that are sitting in your refrigerator. One example: my Mocha Tart! 🙂
My Buttermilk Chocolate Chip Muffins are so soft and delicious! They were one of the most popular recipes on the blog this year, and are on permanent rotation at my house! My family never tires of these muffins! They’re also extremely quick and easy–perfect for a weeknight and/or when your kiddos want to “help” in the kitchen!
Don’t let the light color of that buttercream fool you! This Chocolate Cake with Dark Chocolate Italian Buttercream is SUPER chocolatey! There’s dark chocolate in the cake and a full POUND of dark chocolate in the buttercream. Oh yeah. This recipe definitely deserves it’s #3 spot!
The runner-up for most popular post on Live to Sweet in 2019 is this Chocolate Champagne Cake! Three layers of chocolate champagne cake with champagne buttercream, all topped with dark chocolate ganache! It was so much fun hearing from folks who made this cake! I love how this recipe was part of your celebrations! <3
I guess it’s no surprise with aaaaall those chocolate recipes at the top of the list, that my Homemade Chocolate Extract would come out on top for the whole year! It wasn’t even a close contest–this recipe was #1 by a landslide. I mean, I do put chocolate extract in every recipe I can, and I pretty much never stop singing its praises. (It’s up there with my love of vanilla bean paste!) <3 I definitely won’t stop singing its praises in 2020, either, so it will be hard for any other recipe to compete!
That wraps up my Top 10 Recipes 2019! There will be lots of changes for me and my family in 2020! We’ll be moving home to Michigan and I’ll be going back to work! 😀 You may hear less from me, but I’ll still be baking and sharing it all with you!
Wishing you and yours a very happy, healthy, SWEET new year! <3
