The end of the year is weird. My body is composed mostly of cookies and snacks at this point. I keep having to check to see what day it is, which means I’m never quite sure what I need to do on any given day. BUT I do love to reminisce a bit (yes, even *this* year), and for the blog that means checking out the Top 10 Recipes of 2020!
2020 wasn’t a fantastic year (could I be any nicer about it???), but with these recipes, it wasn’t ALL bad!

The #10 post on Live to Sweet in 2020 wasn’t one recipe, but a collection of recipes! My post on Ways to Use Egg Yolks has a treasure trove of recipes to use up those extra egg yolks that are sitting in your refrigerator. One example: my Mocha Tart! 🙂
At the #9 spot: my Caramel Apple Cream Puffs! These little gems are classic cream puffs filled with caramel pastry cream and homemade chunky apple preserves. Then the whole thing is drizzled with homemade salted caramel sauce! It’s no wonder this recipe is so popular! 🙂
This Chocolate Cherry Pie has juicy, ripe cherries and chopped dark chocolate in a crisp, flaky chocolate crust! This recipe was very popular during cherry season, but again during the holidays, putting it in the #8 spot!
This Blackberry Cream Pie has a graham cracker crust filled with blackberry cream and topped with vanilla bean whipped cream and blackberries! This recipe is *practically* no bake, having only 10 minutes of oven time for the crust!
The sixth most popular post on Live to Sweet in 2020 was this Chocolate Champagne Cake! Three layers of chocolate champagne cake with champagne buttercream, all topped with dark chocolate ganache! It was so much fun hearing from folks who made this cake! I love how this recipe was part of your celebrations!
This Chocolate Peanut Butter Angel Food Cake is one of my early recipes, and it always makes me smile to see it so popular on the blog! (Although…I should re-take photos at some point.) This cake gets it’s flavor from peanut butter powder, then is topped with dark chocolate peanut butter ganache! <3
Don’t let the light color of that buttercream fool you! This Chocolate Cake with Dark Chocolate Italian Buttercream is SUPER chocolatey! There’s dark chocolate in the cake and a full POUND of dark chocolate in the buttercream. Oh yeah. This recipe definitely deserves it’s #4 spot!
I knew that these Honey Sugar Cookies would definitely be on the top 10 list for 2020, since the recipe made the list in 2019 after only having been on the blog for a few months! The reason is clear: these cuties are simple, delicious, and easy to personalize to any event or holiday!
I guess it’s no surprise with aaaaall those blog posts singing the praises of chocolate extract that my Homemade Chocolate Extract would be the second most popular recipe in 2020! I definitely won’t stop singing its praises in 2021, either, so it will be hard for any other recipe to compete!
My Buttermilk Chocolate Chip Muffins were in the #4 spot on last year’s list, but made it to #1 on my list of Top 10 Recipes 2020! I think the pandemic made a lot of new bakers, and there’s nothing more easy and delicious than these muffins! They’re so soft and comforting–and they’re on permanent rotation at my house! My family never tires of these muffins! They’re also extremely quick and easy–perfect for a weeknight and/or when your kiddos want to “help” in the kitchen!
That wraps up my Top 10 Recipes 2020! If there’s one thing this year has taught me, it’s that all I know is that…I don’t know. I’ll continue to roll with the punches and do my best. And of course I’ll be baking! Can’t wait to share it with you!
