    Gingerbread Cake

    Sometimes I have a recipe idea pop up in my head whole, and I know exactly what it will look and taste like from the start. Other times, it’s more of a feeling that turns into a recipe as I go along. This Gingerbread Cake was the latter, a half-idea that I pieced together as I went. I’m so happy with the (delicious) result!

    I’m not gonna lie. I am SO ready for Fall! It’s my absolute favorite season, and since Texas just didn’t have Fall, I haven’t seen a real fall in five years!!! Now that we’re back in our home state (yay, Michigan!), I am just ecstatic that we’re headed into September. All that said: berries!! They’re still in season, and I’d be crazy not to use them for as long as I can! This Blackberry Cake is easy, flavorful, and just LOOK at that color!! <3

    Wacky Cake

    To say times are strange right now is the understatement of the century. I’ve struggled with finding a sense of normalcy. My type-A, control freak personality doesn’t fare well when things are out of my control. I also thrive on routine, as do my kids, so we’re working hard to find a new normal (but wouldn’t it be so, so nice to get back to *actual* normal??). This morning I woke up and thought about how lucky that we are to have found milk and eggs recently, and that I should try to ration them. Not only so that we don’t need more so soon, but so that those who need them can get them, too. Then it hit me: Wacky Cake.
