Ingredients
Only TWO ingredients! You can find measurements for each of the ingredients in the recipe card, below.
- Cherries - For moisture, flavor, and gorgeous color! You can use fresh or frozen cherries for the glaze.
- Powdered Sugar - For sweetness, and because it dissolves easily and gives the glaze a smooth texture.
Instructions
Here's how to make this recipe, step by step! You can find more detailed instructions included in the recipe card, below.
- Warm cherries in a small saucepan until their juices are released. Press the cherries through a fine mesh strainer to get as much juice from them as possible.
- Sift powdered sugar, then add the cherry juice and mix until smooth. That's it!
Equipment
Here are some things that I used to make this recipe:
- Cherry Pitter - Not a necessity with the few cherries that you need to pit, but it is a convenient tool to have in the kitchen (works well on olives, too)!
- Fine Mesh Strainer - A strainer will help you to get as much juice from your cherries as possible.
How to Use Cherry Glaze
The ways to use this Cherry Glaze are only limited by your imagination! Here are a few ways that I've thought of:
- Drizzled over my Cherry Scones or Almond Sweet Rolls for a sweet start to your day!
- Keep the glaze on the thicker side and use it to frost my Buttermilk Cookies.
- Pour it over some chocolate cake, Cornmeal Pound Cake, or Lavender Pound Cake!
- Use it to glaze these baked Honey Donuts!
Storage
Store any leftover glaze in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. For longer storage, the glaze freeze the glaze in an airtight container for up to three months.
